Using Pantone’s 2020 Colour of the Year at your event

Pantone recently announced their colour of the year. The colour, called Classic Blue, is a deep, elegant blue said to instil calm, confidence and connection. Running for over 20 years, the Pantone Colour of the Year has influenced multiple industries and creative ideas including furnishing. So for your next event, why not try it out. Stay on trend and take inspiration from Classic Blue.

If you’re going to make this colour work for your event, you have to be creative. Of course you don’t want to go all out and make everything blue, but adding hints of colour throughout would make for a pretty unique aesthetic. We have a variety of blue furniture to choose from to create those pops of colour.

Think furniture

Our Sapphire Blue Velvet Pouffe and Electric Blue Dinky Sofa are ideal if you’re looking for a touch of elegance; their brass and gold features perfectly compliment the blue tones. Or, our striking Mayfair Sofa in Blue velvet will add a sense of luxury and comfort to any event.

If you want to be a little more subtle with the Classic Blue, try adding coloured scatter cushions to a more neutral sofa or armchair. Our Grey Dexter Armchair or Wingback Sofa in Light Grey would look great with a pop of blue. Or add a coloured table runner to one of the Juno dining tables if you want to be really subtle with the theme.

Get creative with the colour

Don’t be afraid to have a bit of fun with it, there’s plenty of ways to inject some classic blue into your event decor. Find some beautiful blue flowers – hydrangeas, bluebells or iris’s to add a touch of colour and texture to the space. Place them in vases around the room to make a bold statement or for a softer addition, add them to your flower arrangement.

Hiring a bar for your next party? Why not see if your bartender can mix up some special blue cocktails for the occasion. As people walk around, cocktail in hand, the colour will be dotted all around the room.

Complimenting the classic blue

We’ve heard that Pantone are predicting ocean colours to be a staple for this year. Think varying shades of blue, green and grey. Or, create contrast by pairing it with a coral or pink shade, such is our Millennial Pink Dinky Armchair or Powder Rose Gatsby Sofa.

So, why not try incorporating the Pantone 2020 Colour of the Year in your event. You can be as subtle or as bold with it as you want, but it’s a good starting point to get the design ideas flowing, whilst also staying on trend.
